| Sweden | Where to go mountain hiking Posted: Thu May 8, 2008 08:49 PM UTC
Hi everyone.
My wife has had a long desire to visit Sweden. This September will be our twenty fifth wedding anniversary so I plan to surprise her. We are very keen hill/mountain walkers and can take anything thrown at us in England and Wales. Can anyone advise me which is the best area to visit for mountain walking but preferably not too remote and reasonably accessible. Many thanks to you all Mick |

Take a look at sim1 sweden pages. She has walked all over Sweden. She has described several regions in detail

Well, the best known one is "Kungsleden". It is easily accessed by air/train and even though it is quite "crowded" (by Swedish standards) you can walk for hours without encountering another human being. I have walked the northern most bit (between Nikkaloukta - Abisko) twice and I can really recomend it as a good "first hiking expereince in Sweden".
You can read more about it here: http://www.svenskaturistforeningen.se/kungsleden.htm I bet there are more, even better, sites out on the net, but this is the first one I came to think of. All the best. Jenny
