My partner and I are travelling to new York at the end of Sept staying for five days we would rather stay in an apartment than a hotel - can anyone recommend a website or an apartment they have stayed in in Manhatten?
I would like a decent apartment with all modern conveniences in a decent area.

You apparently have not done your research or you would have seen the online reports/articles about scams being perpetrated on tourists seeking to rent apartments in NYC.

I suggest you Google your idea first.

Although I'm sure there are scams out there, surely not everyone is out to get you. I used nyhabitat.com and was very pleased with our apt. We are renting the same apt this summer. You work through a broker, not and individual, and it is an international company. The price was reasonable, $3,000 for a month in a loft that slept 7 in Soho. A real bargain compared to a hotel in the same area. My friend swears by VRBO.com and has rented from them across the country for years. Staying in a house or apt is so much better than a hotel. Kitchen, washer/dryer and a real feel for the neighborhood. Do your homework, check the company out and have fun!

I have to admit we were dubious after being let down by another apartment booking but this place was great. As soon as the lady owner turned up, we could relax!
