Hi All,

If I am going to Cairo, what would be the best gift to get family members (Parents, brothers, sisters, kids)?

And where to get it from?

What kind of question is this? You are going to Cairo and have no idea what to bring your mother, father, brother, sister..... ?

All I know is that Egyptian people love their sweets!

I have the same problem when I go. Best place to shop is Khan Al Khalili Bazar located by al Azhar St and on the West by the Muski Market. Items for kids and brothers would probably be t-shirts, leather slippers. For your parents probably wooden carvings, stone carvings, silver and brass goods. And for women and sisters, scarves, galabeyyas (ladies'dress) or perfume oils and beautiful perfume bottles. I hope this helps. Have Fun!

In the town of Nazlet Es-Saman (at the eastern edge of the Giza Plateau, near The Sphinx) there is a small family-run shop called Adly Bazaar. I am very fond of a trio of mini-Pyramids carved from basalt that came from there. Another popular gift is a necklace with the recipient's name in hieroglyphic symbols. And of course artwork on papyrus is a big seller.
