New York City Dinner or Tour Cruises
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 11:55 PM UTC
Hi all,
I am taking my daughter to NYC in mid June and we'll be celebrating her 22nd birthday. I was thinking of a dinner cruise for one of our activities. Thoughts or suggestions? Also, in general, how are the tour boats and any suggestions on particular ones? Is it a worthwhile thing to do?

Thanks very much!

I've been on World Yacht a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Take a look at www.worldyacht.com. Have a good time!

The food on donner cruises are normally bad to okay. If you want a nice boat tour around NYC...stick to the circle line. It is a very touristy thing to do but a nice ride. Forget eating a meal on a boat...there are many great places to eat on land. Are you looking for a particular cuisine or atmosphere?

I agree with the Circle Line suggestion. I thought it was a goofy idea, but friends who were visiting us wanted to do it so we gave it a try. It was great! Lots of NY trivia and relaxing. There is another tour from the Pier 16 at the Seaport. It was a very kitchy speedboat tour and we loved it! Loud music, goofy tour guides, lots of water (be ready to leave damp), but a real hoot! Not too expensive, either, espeically if you buy your tickets online. Save the extra money and eat a great meal at a restaurant with a view.
