| Calabria | IS there still inter-Calabria train service for 5 Euro for 30km, 60km, 90km, 120 km? Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 07:47 PM UTC
IS there still the inter-Calabria train service mentioned for 5 Euro for 30km, 60km, 90km, 120 km? I was very interested to see the post from 2004 that there is such inexpensive service, so that one would not need a car from Lamezia to Tropea, the lovely beach resort. Does that still exist?
My other question is about how to get to the Lamezia train station from the Lamezia airport, is there a regular bus or something connecting them besides a taxi? Trying to use the "trenialia.com" officialtrain website, I give up in despair. There is just no way to tell the price of any ticket. None of the pricing links works at all. I switch back and forth from English to Italian because it used to work in Italian but not in English. Now it works in NEITHER language! |

It works fine for me.
http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html Do your search, then click on 'buy'. The fare will appear, in pale blue figures. Lamezia to Tropea costs 3.10 one-way for an adult. I have no idea if the price-system you mention is still in operation, but Italian trains are very reasonably-priced anyway, imo.
