Concelho de Macau Any suggested intinerary for single traveller
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 03:23 PM UTC
I'm planning to go to Macau alone for 3-5 days. I have not been to Macau before and would like to explore the place. Anyone has good intinerary or must-see spot to suggest? Kindly suggest a clean and safe hostel which has good location. By the way, is it safe for a lady to travel alone there?

Well, I've posted some things to do/see with regards to Macau in the past so if you go to the Macau forum page and retreive previous postings, you'll get some ideas.
I would recommend setting aside one full day just doing a walking tour of Macau's 'older quarter' and you should be able to get a free map at the Macau tourist offices which are spread out (but main office is in the Leal Senaod Plaza). Lots of free info/maps, things to do gudies/recommendations and you should probably checkout the Macau tourist website.
Then I would also recommend taking a day just to cruise around by local bus (very inexpensive bus fares--usually around U$1 or less) to the outlying islands of Taipa and Coloane. Taipa has a 'food-street' in its village with excellent food as does Coloane Village. Macau is an excellent place for good quality chinese and Macanese food, even better than HK since the casinos opened which has attracted some of the best chefs from HK. And the best thing is that Macau is not as expensive as HK.
Overall, Macau is safe but do be careful with regards to pick-pockets.
