Naxos Island I'm arriving on Sunday 11th May but there's only one ferry.

Hi. I'm arriving Mykonos this Sunday at 1.20pm (if Easyjet have no delays) and plan to get the ferry across to Naxos that same day. There seems to be only 1 ferry each day which surprised me and the boat is at 2.30pm. I tried all the previously recommended websites and there really does seem to be just the 1 boat each day fromMykonos to Naxos. Does anyone living on Naxos know if that's because not all ferries are published in the schedules? I'm worried about what to do if I miss that boat as even if the flight is on time an hour isn't long for us to collect our bags and get down to the port to find and buy tickets. Are there any later boats or a roundabout way to get to Naxos if we miss that one (without returning to Athens..)
Thanks.

Because the demand is not high in May there won't be any other ferries available other than the ones you've already found. As far as I can tell the only other option you have if you miss the 2:30 ferry to Naxos would be to try for the 2:45 ferry to Santorini where you can catch a ferry back to Naxos at 7:00 PM. I think you have a good chance to make that 2:30 ferry if you have done a little pre-ferry preparation. While you're at the Athens Airport go to the travel desk of Amphitrion Holidays in the Main Hall and buy your ferry tickets there so you don't have to waste time on Mykonos completing that transaction. Then when you get to the airport on Mykonos one of you go outside immediately to hire a taxi while the other one collects your bags at the luggage carousel. This should give you enough time to get to the port. All you have to do is be there in time to board, there's no 'check-in' per se the way there is on an airline.

Good Luck!

I just realized that you're flying Easyjet directly to Mykonos and won't be stopping in Athens, so obviously my suggestion about Amphitrion Holidays doesn't apply. Sorry. I still think you can make it!

Why are you surprised?

May is not yet "high season", there are not so many tourists and consequently, not many boats for the islands!

Mykonos is a small island and the same applies for the island airport: you do not have to think of Heathrow or Gatwick!Once you arrive there, catch immediately a taxi to the port!I am sure you will arrive on time.If you miss the boat, I can suggest you some "tricks": if you can not find a night boat (certainly exists!), you can catch the boat for Syros.Maybe from Syros could have a boat to Naxos.Or you can catch any boat that travels to Paros or Santorini: they always stop at the port of Naxos.

The above are only some "suggestions" and before to put them in practice, ask the local Mykonian travel agent for more accurate information.

And congratulations for your choice: Naxos is one of the most beautiful Greek islands and not yet discovered (hopefully!) by the "massive tourism"!

Bon voyage!

Actually, the Hellenic Seaways FlyingCat 4 does NOT stop on Naxos anymore. Now, coming from Mykonos, only the I.J. Superjet stops there.

May is low season so there are not so many ferries and it is not a regular route anyway.

You won't make a 14:30 ferry. Typical delays out of Gatwick are an hour. Although Mykonos is a small airport there is usually a lot of charter flights arriving at almost the same time, this of course makes baggage handling very slow as well.

You could catch a 17:00 ferry Mykonos > Syros, then a 21:30 ferry Syros > Naxos, but it makes it a pretty tedious journey.

I would just overnight on Mykonos and relax, take a ferry the next day.

I am taking the same EasyJet flight on a Sunday in June so I have already considered your scenario, though I'm probably going to Syros/Paros first and other islands. Even so I think I will be overnighting on Mykonos.
