Kuala Lumpur Affordable central 3 Stars hotel, things to do/and recommended affordable restaurants.
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 04:57 AM UTC
First week of June I will be taking my wife to KL and to Singapore. Sometime two years ago we had joined a VT meeting here in Barcelona and we really had a great time meeting Malaysian people visiting Barcelona. So, now that we will be visiting Kuala Lumpur we hope to meet with some VT'ers and perhaps they can give us also local traveling tips, things "MUST VISIT", THE DO'S AND DO NOT DO'S...and places where not to stay and recommendable places to eat and do a bit of shopping. At the moment, we have not started searching for our accommodation as we heard there are ample of affordable, decent, clean and centrally located hotels to stay. Anyone out there that wishes to meet with us during our 4 days stay we will be happy to meet with you guys! Many thanks to all and we are looking forward and very much forward to our up coming Asian holiday! Cheers to all!

It's great hear that you are coming to KL. Well, definitely you can add me to meet you when you and your wife is here.
As for hotel, Radius International Hotel is quite a good one. It is situated near Bukit Bintang area and accessable to public transport, ie. taxi, bus and monorail. You can get more info about other 3 star hotels at http://www.hotelreservation.com.my/hotel/kuala_lumpur/3Star.htm.
Places you need to visit in KL depends on your interest. If you want to sight seeing and shopping, I would recommend the Twin Tower. The KLCC Suria shopping mall, with many retail outlets inside of it.
There is a few place you need to visit too, like Butterfly Farm, KL tower, Petaling Street, Pavilion etc.

I have stayed in Capitol Hotel and i love it. Simple clean rooms located in the heart of Bukit Bintang. Smack in between a couple of mega shopping malls. Despite its small lobby, i guess it will be the best 3 star hotel in KL i've stayed so far.

Hi,

Are you sure the hotel is closed? I just receive a confirmation to stay in this hotel from End May to Early June.

Thanks

Dear Cathy, Chia,Sha and friends on VT'ers,
Many many thanks for your quick response, we are hoping that someone out there would really quote us a price ....cost of the 3 stars hotel you guys had mentioned that way my wife and I can start doing our money budget. Like everyone else, we are very practical when speaking of accommodation, our priorities fall in the same category, centrally located, safe area to walk at nights, clean accommodation, affordable on our tight budge, easy access to public transportation and those kinds of priority. We are getting very excited now about our K.L. journey and our Singapore trip. At the moment we still have to work on Singapore accommodation and places to eat, a bit of shopping and tour.

We hope to get feed back from you guys with regards to the costs of accommodation and we are very much looking forward to meeting VT'ers...please guys be the one to make suggestions where we could meet, hopefully nothing fancy as we too are in tight budget...Many thanks to all!

Hello Sha kok Tein,
Thank you for your respond on my enquiry on KL accommodation and so forth, we think from your respond these happens to be your business, and we strongly feel it is a nice and wonderful idea of meeting with you, but as far as having to pay someone to do our travel arrangement in KL as it sounds on your respond, that is not quite our ideal way of traveling. The reason there is such thing as Virtual Tourist is to be more knowlegeable about places one visits through our VT'ers past experience, through the VT'ers local knowlege and not through getting an agency whom you will be paying an enormous amout of money...again many thanks for your respond.

hi there... i would recommend a new budget hotel in KL.... Tune Hotels. The price starts from RM9.99... it is invested by the founders of Airasia. Anyway so far there is only 1 outlet in KL. the location is:

http://mapdoo.com/?id=tun999001

since u'll be touching down in June and u r from the UK... meanwhile if u r footbal fans and wanna plan and heading to the bars to watch the Euro 2008... Malaysians are crazy about football and u could easily find great places/bars for watching live football... i would recommend Hartams Aquare... an outdoor eatery place where u can enjoy the beers and giant screen... great atmosphere too...

location map of Hartamas Square: http://mapdoo.com/?id=aab126571

u could also use the Malaysia local roadmapping website Mapdoo and browse for more local info such as restaurant, bars, tourism places etc.

welcome to malaysia :)
