| Istanbul | Hotels in Istanbul Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 04:42 PM UTC
I am going to Istanbul for this weekend.
Do you think there are going to be any problems in finding a hotel room when I'll arrive? What is general sitaution with hotels in Istanbul? In certain mideastern cities, Amman for example, there are great numbers of cheap hotels in the downtown and it is not possible to book most of those online, is it any similar in Istanbul? What hotels could you suggest that would be likely to have free rooms for the next weekend and would be convenient enough for exploring Istanbul (i.e. in the downtown or close to metro station for example)? I am looking for cheaper / mid-range hotels. |

Lots of Hotels but they are usually a bit cheaper pre-booked. Check VT pages, there are lots.

Not really, but as mentioned above, pre-booking most of the time have better rates as you could possibly bargain. But there are lots of them, so you need not really worry.
Here are where I have stayed in myseveral trips, mostly budget, with my personal experience. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/a4c2f/bf0/3/ You may also want to read my brief on Istanbul Hotels here: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/a4c2f/1c0a38/3/ I have compiled also an FAQ here, in case you may want to ask other Qs: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/a4c2f/1c0a38/1/ Enjoy your trip!

Hi,
For high-level hotels booking is better, but does not matter for chaep hotels. You should choose your area (Sultanahmet or Taksim), go one of them and see plenty of cheap hotels. Cheers. Alper

Ok, I'll search for a hotel at the place then.
Hopefully the fact that this weekend Formula 1 Istanbul Grand Prix will take place won't cause any problems.

Ohh sorry, since I am totally not interested, I haven't thought of it! Of course, the hotels will be more busy than usual.
But I still guess you can find one. Alper
