| Manila | Groups exploring philippines on road Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 02:10 PM UTC
Hi, anyone aware of groups in manila that are involved in exploring philippines on their vehicles. I have seen a documentary where people are on road, then they put their vehicles on roro and vice versa. I would like to be part of any such group/association. salamat po

Visit the website of Department of Tourism (www.wowphilippines.com; www.dot.gov.ph). In the past, they organized travel caravans to Ilocos Region, Bicol Region, etc.
Also, you may also look up the Motoring or Travel section of the Philippine Star (newspaper). (From time to time), they feature articles on road trips sponsored by car manufacturers (e.g. Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubitshi and Honda) or motoring associations. You could possibly link up with them.

Don't know if motorbikes are your thing but here are a couple of motorbike groups that tour around the Philippines
http://www.motorcyclephilippines.com/ http://www.cebucybermoto.com/ By the way, it is very expensive, comparatively speaking, to take your car on a RORO. It can also be very expensive if you have an accident. Often, if a foreigner is involved in an accident, they are deemed a fault because they can pay, even if they are not at fault. Also, often a Filipino insurance company will say sue us, when you make a claim for an auto accident. I personally would and do just travel by ship and rent a van. Regards: Jim Sibbick
