| Barcelona | Looking for a modern - design - hotel in Barcelona Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 01:35 PM UTC
Dear VTers,
I would like to spend a long week end in Barcelona in July, and I am looking for a modern hotel. By modern I mean a design hotel, a contemporary one. I know lots of them have opened in Barcelona, and I would like to indulge one of them since I am only going for a week end. I would like it to be in the center, and around 150 euros per night. Extra question: is it hot hot hot in mid July?? Thanks very much in advance!! La Parisienne |

I think It will be very very hot in July. You may check out a destination on the north Europe - Prague, Sofia etc.- see hotels on www.dot-hotel.com

I guess that "hot" is relative. And not necessarily a bad thing. Besides... it will be hotter in August! ;)
I can't tell you much about hotels as I never used one here in Barcelona. However, you must know that 150 € in the city center is nearly a "budget" price. I heard great comments on Casa Camper and hotel Jazz, or the newly opened Murmuri looks great... but I guess all these are over 200-250€ per night :(

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! Hotel Jazz seems fairly expensive, but the other 2 hotels of the group are less expensive but still very stylish! Found one deal at around 125 euros a night!! Apparently if you book early, it is less expensive - lucky me doing a bit of planning!!
Hotel MurMuri looks very nice as well. It's the same - from their website they have excellent offers from around 170 euros a night. It seems too posh for me though ;-)) Thanks again - and yes, hot is not a bad thing. I was just wondering if I should expect 27 or 37 degrees!

37ºC or more in Barcelona is quite unusual.
What can be unpleasant of the climate in Barcelona is not the temperature but humidity.

Hello! There is a hotel called Market Hotel which I think is what you are looking for. It is very modern, located in a nice area and very near the downtown and the metro stop and it is not expensive. The wen side is:
http://www.markethotel.com.es/ I hope you like it. Some members from VT went to this hotel and they liked it very much. Also it is near a 18th century market which give the name to the hotel.

Good to hear!
Which hotel did you book? (just curious) Barcelona rarely gets "very" hot. Temperatures over 30 ºC are exceptional, even in the peak of summer. The main problem here is the humidity, even with "mild" temperatures you may feel sticky. But there is the beach!

Hi Keti... virtually anywhere inland Europe will be hotter that Barcelona in summer! as said, here is not hot, is humid. The first answer looks as someone promoting a website... so better to be ignored
Vero, qüestió de pràctica... :) Ara el meu anglés (escrit) es quasi millor que el meu català (que escrit es autodidacte). Comptes/comtes/compte, mai sé quin es.... Quina vergonya! Bona nit to all!!! :)
