We flew SkyEurope from Prague to Amsterdfam last year, they were great.
I just checked their website and you can get flights from about 1400CZK (55 Euro) www.skyeurope.com

Check www.whichbudget.com and www.harefares.com.
There will be more than one possible carrier, so you should compare fares before booking. Remember to check hold baggage allowance/check-in deadlines. Book as early as you can for best fares. For accommodation, look at www.hostelworld.com and www.hostelbookers.com (both have reviews). www.venere.com (a reliable site used by many VT-ers) and www.booking.com also list many hostels/b&b places in Prague.

I got a different quote from Sky Europe: 128 euro (including all taxes and fees) for a return trip 1st week of June.
The next cheapest is Czech Airlines, for 150 euro (including all taxes and fees) for a return trip 1st week of June.

Try www.click4sky.com It's a pseudo-lowcost airline, in fact they just sell out remaining places on Czech Airlines regular flights, price is guaranteed 78 euros for return flight taxes included. As this is actually Czech Airlines flight drinks and snacks are free onboard. But it can be just sold out for this price and than you've got to check skyeurope.com or czechairlines.com. Also try the overnight train, it costs just 29 euros one way if you book SparNight.

I bought a ticket to Prague on SkyEurope (from Brussels, not Amsterdam) but buying earlier doesn't necessarily mean cheaper. As the price started to increase I bought my ticket, only to find that the fare was lower a few weeks later. Oh well, live and learn.
My flight isn't until later this month so I'm glad to read that glen006 had a great experience with them.

That can happen with fares, but the problem is that it's a gamble. Not all fares drop the nearer you get to departure (the opposite is usually the case) and they are unlikely to drop unless a) they have real problems with filling the seats or b) there is a sale (and one never knows when they turn up).
I always travel with budget airlines, and (as long as you don't look at fares before the cheaper ones are loaded, usually 3 months or so before travel) earlier is always cheaper. Mind you, I am restricted to travelling in the school holidays, so the chance of a plane not being filled is much less.
