| Prague | Prague questions : Hotel Pod Vezi in Mala Strana Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 07:32 PM UTC
I am considering booking this hotel for 3 nights in December for our visit to Prague and the Christmas market. Trip Advisor rates it highly. Does anyone know this hotel ? It is situated by the Charles Bridge in Mala Strana. Is this is convenient location for walking to the main sites ?

I don't know the hotel, but it is very convenient for walking to the main sights on both sides of the river, imo (although Prague also has an excellent and cheap public transprt system).

Yes, it is easy to walk to main tourist attractions. Of course there is downside of this: you are in a middle of tourist crowds and all restaurants/cafes around are overpriced.
There is a tram stop very close, so connection to airport is easy. If you do not want to walk to the center anymore, you can take a tram. Do not think you will open the windows in December, but if you are very sensitive, you might hear/feel trams running during the night.

R13 do you live in Prague ? I am going to be flying into Frankfurt in early December and then driving to Prague via Regensberg. I'm wondering what the chance of their being snow and poor road conditions might be ?

Hi,
Yes I live in Prague. Usually first snow comes in the end of November. In most cases it is very light snow so the most danger is caused not by snow itself but by drivers who did not change to winter tires in time... Last winters were quite warm (this winter we had 3 days with the snow in Prague), so I would estimate the chance of snow quite low, however it is very dificult to predict. By the way, the hotel you were asking about is very unconvenient to reach by car and parking will be costly.
