Three days would have to be the absolute minimum, can you manage 3 nights? Moulin Rouge while absolutely fantastic is very expensive and not in a safe area especially for 1st timers. There are more romantic things to do in Paris. The view from Eiffel Tower at night is quite stunning. If you are on a budget I suggest you invest in an appropriate Metro pass for the light railway and do lots of walking using the Metro do travel the greater distances. Spend a lot of time on the Web before you go researching what you would like to see e.g http://www.paris-tourisme.com/ A Bateau Mouche cruise is a great way to orientate yourself with Paris, tryhttp://www.discoverfrance.net/France/Transporta
Have a wonderful time.

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. Paris is expensive, compared to AUS, about double at the least and avoiding fancy restaurants is one way to save money. La Cabanas des Lilas is an absolutely romantic place to eat, a dinner for two with a bottle of wine would eat up close to 300 AUS dollars! but lots of bistros and other places to eat good meals. The boats are a good idea. at least Louvre. walk around Champs D elysses, cross the bridges, eiffel tower..Metro is relatively inexpensive and recommend a carnet or a pass. you should have coffee at Les Deux Magots or Cafe Flore in St Germain du Pres, a cup of coffee would be about 8 aus dollars, but the atmosphere is rather nice. Like the other poster said, please read about Paris as much as possible, the place is CRAWLING with tourists, mainly european and Japanese, but in June Americans woudl be here!

I fully recommend a metro pass and the hop on hop off tour. Do they yellow bus and not the red one. The red one only has 9 stops and the yellow one has 58 stops. We used the tour bus to transport us around Paris and connected to the Metro whenever we needed to get somewhere else. Taxis were very reasonable for quick hops as well.
Beware a Coca Cola was $8USD. Find little cafes to eat at and you will be fine. Good Luck!!!!

Stay away from Moulin Rouge a tourist trap and not really worth it.(100 Euros)
There are other less expensive Caberet Shows to go to. Go to thr travel pages for member GUYON.. he has a wealth of information for you.
