Hi Tina ,

Was doing some last minute reading on the various posts for phuket ( i'm heading there tomorrow =) when i stumbled across this post you posted about the burial 'spa' thingy by the beach.

Sounds really interesting. Could you tell me where we can find this place? And also how much? Do they use alot of pressure , cause ,the last time i had a thai massage it wasn't very pleasant..it was way too hard..

Hope you can let me know soon!!

Thanks!

You can see a newspaper write-up at this website: http://www.phuketgazette.net/digitalgazette/Feb09_08.pdf?thequerytype=&id=76259&Cat=34

Go to page 10. At the end of the article there is a contact number you can phone for information or to make an appointment.

Hi Sueann, sorry I haven't been online for a while.

We had our own masseuses with us who were fantastic, unfortunately they have returned to Bangkok. After several weeks of treatment with them, I no longer had to visit the chiropractor weekly - for a whole year! Nevertheless, Ajarn Tong is the man who massages the disabled and others up at Mai Khao. He does not massage you too strongly and works only on your painful areas, rather than doing an entire massage, as he is busy with those who need his services more. He has created a "rehabilitation wheel" for people who have been paralysed or injured and have problems with mobility to do some rehabilitation work on while he massages them.

If you go up there, you don't need to wear clothes in the sand, as per the Phuket Gazette article. No one was when we were there, they were stripped (the Thais) down to shorts/boxers). I wore my bikini, as you need to wash off in the water afterwards. Also, unless you don't mind a bit of cold, I would not go to Mai Khao in the morning, as per the article. We have always gone after lunch, even to mid afternoon, so that you're there 'til sunset, which is beautiful at Mai Khao, it's a stunning beach. The sand is still damp, but it is warmer without your clothes on in the afternoon.

I am in Phuket at the moment and can talk to my friend to check which days and times Ajarn Tong is working. When are you headed over?
