I can highly recommend the Hotel Italia on Via Venezia just off the Via Nazionale. It is well placed for everything and is very good value for money as well. The staff are very helpful and speak English well. Breakfast is included and isn't too bad by Rome Standards. Air Con is optional. The roomas as usual, are tiney but well appointed, neat and clean. I paid 90 Euro for a single there last June. It does have its own website but you can book it on www.venere.com or www.bookings.com. I rave on about this hotel ad nauseum but in three trips to Rome it is by far my favourite and I will stay there again next time.

Single or double? High or low season?(if there is one in Rome)
A single under EUR100 per night sounds pretty good. Hotel Gea di Vulcano on Via Nazionale is worth checking out. Not flash but comfortable with an adequate breakfast. Good location for walking around Rome and close to Termini Station. You can do some research on venere.com or booking.com as suggested or email the hotel direct.

Highly recommend Domus Praetoria (see my tip) near Termini.
www.domushotel.com But otherwise look at www.venere.com It's a reliable site listing most/all accommodation options (you can sort results by price) and the guest reviews are honest.

We stayed 4 nights at the Royal Home hotel last summer. It was very inexpensive for a room (we had 4 people), and the room was lovely. The breakfast was included, and it was larger than most Italian breakfasts. We really liked this hotel.
http://royalhome.hotelinroma.com/main_en.htm?source= The only negative things I can think of are that some people might not like the location, and some might be bothered by the noise of the nearby subway station. The subway is very close to the hotel, which we liked alot. But you can hear the rumble of the trains from your room. However, since the subway only runs until 11pm or so at night (starting again around 7am), it didn't bother us. Also, if you are staying out very late at night, you won't be able to use the subway since it doesn't run all night, and a taxi may be hard to find. The location is a little bit on the outskirts, we needed the subway for everything except nearby restaurants. But we prefer this, since we want to be apart from the most touristy areas. This is a real roman neighborhood. Have a great time!

We just stayed at the Hotel Giardino last month - small hotel (11 rooms), breakfast is included each day, and the staff is very helpful. Rooms were very clean and quiet (but small) - the best thing is the location. It's just down the block from Quirnale and is within easy walking distance of nearly everything you will want to see in Rome. Very safe neighborhood too. We paid 130 euros a night and thought it was worth the price. www.hotel-giardino-roma.com or through venere.com or tripadvisor.com
