Phuket Weather in August
Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 08:51 PM UTC
I will be taking a trip with some friends around the August time frame and we are curious about the weather in August. I understand that it is your rainy monsoon season, so would we expect constant rain all day, is there a chance of some sunny days? We are looking for some nice beaches and nightlife, so will the weather this time of year prevent us from exploring the island?

This information should be used as a guide only.

August is typically one of the "drier" of the rainy season months. You will get some sunshine, yes.

For on-the-spot weather forecasts for one week and one month, visit the Thailand Meteorological Department website: http://www.tmd.go.th/en/province.php?StationNumber=48564

You can also take a look at current conditions via livecam feeds at this website: http://www.marinaphuket.com/cgi-bin/live.php

Here are the official stats from the TMD for August, based on averages over the past 30 years:
Minimum temperature: 24.7
Maximum temperature: 30.6
Amount of rainfall (mm):272.0
Number of days with rain: 20

In addition, other statistics reveal that there is usually bright sunshine for 6 hours each day, representing 48% of daytime hours. And the UV Index in August is like every other month of the year: Extreme (11+). The water temperatures during August are about 29°C.

Hope that helps.
