My family and are planning our first trip to NYC. It would be my husband, myself, and our kids ages 22,20,and 18. Would you recommend a hotel or hostel? We are trying to save money on where we stay so that we can stay longer and see more. We're open for anything. If anyone has opinions on certain hostels, we'd love to hear them.

You might check with the Big Apple Hostel, and Hostelling International, to see if they had a dorm room the five of you could share. It'd be very spartan though, bunk beds and shared bathrooms.
