Ko Phi Phi Don Phi Phi accomodation...going slightly mad
Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 03:31 PM UTC
Please can someone help out, i've been browsing hotel sites, review sites, hostel sites for about 3 days now trying to decide where to stay on phi phi and it's driving me insane.

I've been before and stayed at Phitarom which I have to say was fantastic for the money, clean, luxurious, chilled out, excellent staff. Now you're thinking why not just stay there again.

Well, as nice as it was, it wasn't beachfront and this time on phi phi we really want a beachfront place. We're not fussy as long as it's reasonably clean, reasonably secure, friendly atmosphere and not more than about £30/night...we can go up to £50/night without a problem, but would prefer to go lower if possible.

We will be staying for 6/7 nights, the final week of our 2 week stay in thailand. We want to be close enough to the village to be able to walk into town and party if we feel like it and also be able to walk back home again in a drunken state. Howevever we don't want to be too close so we can just chill and relax in our chosen accomodation if we want to for a few days.

Long beach has jumped out at us, mainly because of the snorkelling and closeness to hin phae (goat reef) this is a must for us whereever we stay, has to be good swimming and snorkelling...however we're worried it may be a little too far to talk home if we're drunk.

I'm going to stop rambling on now, would appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

There is a 'road' you can walk that takes you to Long Beach in 20 minutes, but I would not advise using it at night (you have to walk over very slippery rocks for about 10m) and even less when you are drunk. Luckily there are boat taxi's that will take you there for B80 per person (this is non-negotiable) and I believe that they run throughout the night.

I would strongly recommend Long beach, it is a truly beautiful little beach with a nice swimming area and also snorkeling. All of the other beaches are either too close to the village or too far. We were staying in the village which was great for the partying bit, but we took a boat taxi over to Long beach in the day and was so envious of everyone staying there!

They seem to have a fixed rate. But we never took the boat taxi back at night time, but even if they do have a higher fee, it won't be much higher and will also be set. If your suitcases aren't too big, just rock up there and sort your accommodation out there... That's what we did without much effort or time.
