Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Sweden Where are these structures (building)? Sweden? Norway?Denmark?
Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 04:11 AM UTC
I took these pictures 30 years ago and put them on my web site in 1988.
One of my pictures on my Sweden page was in fact from Norway (moved it already)
Can someone identify them ?

The first one (top left) I don't know, but the other 2 should be of the Hôtel-Dieu in Beaune, France. I haven't been there myself, but saw a photo of it recently and was fascinated by the multicoloured roof tiles and the dormers.
Does this help? Could it have been France instead Sweden?

The top left picture looks exactly like a traditional Norwegian building ("stabbur"). Can't recall I've seen such in Sweden.

The two other pictures don't look Scandinavian at all to me, looks more continental, could be France, Germany, Czech etc. But I cannot tell you for sure I'm afraid.

Trekki's right. The other two pictures are from Hospices de Beaune in Beaune, France.

Thanks a lot everyone. So long ago.
I checked a lot of pictures on Yahoo & Google and no doubt
it's the Hospices de Beaune in Beaune, France.

Couldn't find exactly the top left one. There are hundreds in Sweden and Norway as it seems.
In Norway they are called stabbur and in Sweden stolpbod.

I've already moved the pictures to their respective country. That was my first travel. There may be other misplaced pictures in the Europe section. The internet was slow 10~15 years ago. So the oldest pictures are small. At that time I didn't scan high resolution and now the negatives are long gone.
