Phuket beach hut accommodation
Posted: Sat May 3, 2008 11:29 PM UTC
Hi all, we are planing a trip to Phuket early 2009. Would really appreciate some help in finding a beach hut somewhere. We are looking to stay in Karon or Kata for about a week (any suggestions for accommodation on beach)any resorts stand out that are beautiful? and then would like to go to maybe Krabi or somewhere around there to just chill out and relax. This is where we would like the beach hut accommodation. Any suggestions, maybe someone knows of a better place to stay than Krabi, we prefer the quieter sytles with the option of going where the noise is and then being able to escape it. Would love some feedback please.

I don't know much about accommodations in Krabi, but I do like the Ao Nang area quite a lot. I don't recall seeing any beach huts there, but I'm sure there are guesthouses. There are lots of beach-hut accommodations available on the Krabi-province island of Koh Lanta, however.

On Phuket, the beach towns of Kata and Karon have all price ranges of lodging available, but you would have to provide some kind of budget before we can give you recommendations, particularly since you will be coming during high season, when rates are highest.

The very cheap beach bungalows that are all envision; basic bungalow, right on a beautiful white sand beach, clear water lapping at the sand, are getting difficult to find, but not impossible. I would get myself to Krabi town and go into the many travel shops and tell them what you are looking for. They will have photos and descriptions of dozens of islands and beaches that are just what you are looking for. Most are just too small to have a website and advertise. But, you can see what is out there by doing a search; type in 'koh jum thailand', 'koh lanta', 'koh dok mai',
'andaman sea'. There are photos of Joy Bungalows and Woodland Resort on Koh Jum that look like what you are describing.

Another option is to visit the small beaches north of Nha Trang, VN. Dai Lanh Beach, 83km north of N.T. has bungalows on the beach for under $5/nite. Jungle Beach is 60km north of N.T. $10/nite. Paradise Resort is on Doc Let Beach, 30kn north of N.T. 3 bungalows are right on the beach, $12/nite includes 3 meals/day.

Hope this gets you pointed in the right direction.
