is it best to change money at home or might it be a better rate in cyprus. |

That depends very much on whteher your bank back home offered you a decent rate for Euros.

I always take some euros with me. You will need some, if only when you first arrive.
Then either use a credit/debit card to withdraw cash from ATMs (watch for charges from your card provider) or change money at banks/exchange offices (watch for commission). If you plan to use cards, make sure you provider knows you will be out of the country at that time. Whether you gamble on a better rate being on offer in Cyrpus than at home is entirely up to you. It also depends on whether you can keep any unused euros for future trips, or whether you will want to change them back.
