Dubrovnik Dubrovnik Nightlife

Hi there!! My cousin and I are thinking of travelling to Dubrovnik this summer [1st week of August] for a week. We are looking for a fun-filled party place where there are lots of places to go to with other singletons like ourselves to meet. Is Dubrovnik this type of place??? Can somebody tell me more about the nightlife there in summer time?

Also, is it worth traveling out for a day somewhere near by? Montenegro perhaps?

There are many bars in Dubrovnik, a few Irish pubs as well. There's a "town nightclub" just before the entrance to the Old City on Pile, called Club Fuego. Usual mainstream music is played there. Troubadur has live jazz performances. For the past couple of years Association for Cultural Development (URK) that runs a cult club in Zagreb, Mochvara, organised various brilliant club nights, concerts, exhibitions during the summer in Lazareti. Tho whole "festival" was called Mochvara in Quarantine (Lazareti used to be quarantine quarter long ago). It was held end of July-end of August. It's a bit too early to know what will happen this year but its' definitely worth being informed. Send me an e-mail B4 you arrive & I can check that (as they might list everything solely in Croatian). Also, some big parties were held outside Dubrovnik, on the beach of Hotel Belvedere. Dubrovnik is not Croatian Ibiza (that's the island of Pag) but it doesn't mean it's boring in the summer.

Can't help you with the nightlife, but can suggest a selection of day trips:

Via Elite or other tour company (I used Elite and would recommend them):
* The island of Korcula: Former colony of the Venetian Republic, birthplace of Marco Polo.
* The Bay and town of Kotor, Montenegro: An UNESCO World Heritage Site and another former colony of the Venetian Republic.

Via local bus:
* Cavtat: Lovely, picturesque resort town.
