| Vienna | Accommodation Outside Central Vienna Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 10:25 PM UTC
Hi. I wonder if anyone could recommend any reasonable hotels (or apartments) on the outskirts of Vienna or even in a town close to Vienna.
We'll be travelling to Vienna by car, and do not wish to take it into central Vienna. Ideally we are looking for a hotel that is about 20 - 30 minutes from central Vienna. I'm probably asking for too much, but it would be good if the hotel/apartment was in walking distance (10 minutes or so) of a metro stop or station and in a safe area. Many thanks |

What's your budget? I stayed at the SuiteHotel in Vienna a few yrs ago and thought it was great (€100 for the very large room -large bed + sofa, there is a fridge as well and ample space). Max. 10 mins from teh city centre by tube, very handy. No problems to park the car, I flew there but there are plenty of car spaces outside.

ExParisian: Thank you for your suggestion. The hotel location seems really good. I shall see if they have space for us.

Hello. If you would like to stay in a "traditional" area with traditional food and good transport and connections to the city center, I can recommend the 19th
district. There are nice hotels in the area of Grinzing and Neustift am Walde in the northwest of Vienna. You will have lots of vegetation, a safe and quiet atmosphere and local taverns with Austrian food are all around.

Hotel Derag Kaiser Franz Joseph in Sieveringer Straße in Grinzing (19th district) is also worth checking out. Great standard and reasonable prices. http://www.deraghotels.de/en/KFJ.htm
