| Prague | Accommodation Outside Central Prague Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 10:22 PM UTC
Hi. I wonder if anyone could recommend any reasonable hotels on the outskirts of Prague or even in a town close to Prague.
We'll be travelling to Prague by car, and do not wish to take it into central Prague. Ideally we are looking for a hotel that is about 20 - 30 minutes from central Prague. I'm probably asking for too much, but it would be good if the hotel was in walking distance (10 minutes or so) of a metro stop or station and in a safe area. Many thanks |

Its me again :)
When I toured eastern europe, I was on a Cosmos tour. The hotels they used were all on the outskirts of the cities, and generally close to metro stations. Budapest is the only one I can unfortunatly remember the name of. But try getting hold of a cosmos brochure and researching the hotels they use. Its worth a try. You could also try other tour company brochures. just my 2 cents worth STEVE

Try Hotel Union - a 3-star hotel. Across the street, Tram 18 and 24 will bring you to the city. The area is safe and the hotel itself is cozy, clean and very nice. The staffs are very professional too and the restaurant has the best or coldest Pilsner. I've to look for the business card. I was there three days ago and I was pleased with my stay.

Try this link to nice 3* Hotel Frydl, or if you prefer a lower priced 2*, check the accomodation tip on my VT Prague page. Both hotels are in very safe areas and 20 minutes or less to city center by public transportation. If you don't like these, let me know. I know of others.

Hotel Union, Prague 2 - Nusle, Ostrcilovo nam. 4. Tel.: +420 261 214 812, fax: +420 261 214 20. Quite affordable and the rooms are very quiet aside from being clean. One station away from the botanical garden and about 20 minutes and you'll be at the Malostranska and Staromestska. You buy a 24-hour card for 100 Czech crowns and you can use the metro, tram and bus. Enjoy!

Take a look at my review on my Prague pages for Hotel Excel City. It's out of town a bit but right on bus and tram routes. Rooms are basic but clean and cheap.
