Re: laurel`s canyon Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 10:05 PM UTC
It is Laurel Canyon, not Laurel's. This area of the 1920's Los Angeles suburbs, or even getaway for movie stars, singers, and gangsters, is now one of the major roads that is not a freeway between Hollywood and Studio City in the San Fernando Valley. It starts at Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood and winds around as a narrow street up and down the hills of LA. In my single days in LA, I lived off Laurel Canyon on Fareholm Dr. with a view of the entire LA basin. All my windows faced the city and they were floor to ceiling for a great view. I miss it to this day. Back to your question. If you get to Sunset and Laurel Canyon from Santa Monica, you will turn left onto Laurel. It is about 13 miles. You can take Santa Monica Blvd east almost all the way, turning left on N. La Cienega Blvd. About two blocks up the hill is Sunset Blvd., turn right till you get to Laurel Canyon Blvd, then turn left onto Laurel. Interesting drive is up Laurel to Lookout Mountain Dr. and wind around the top of the hills to return back to Sunset via Appian Way and Sunset Plaza Dr, or go further to Mulholland Dr. and turn left, now you are really on top of the hill with LA to the left and the San Fernando Valley on the right. You can come back off Mulholland via Coldwater Canyon, Benedict Canyon, Beverly Glen or the I-405. Or just roam around the different roads to look at the homes and views. Make sure you look for signs saying "no Outlet", that's a turnaround and go back street. Enjoy.
