In the area, I can recommend:
- an excursion to Zaltbommel, a small old town just north of 's Hertogenbosch
- Asten (near Eindhoven) has a bell and bell ringing museum
- if it isn't too late into the autumn, the castle gardens at Arcen (VT location: Kasteel Arcen)
- in Arcen itself there are thermal baths (VT locatation: Arcen)
- the beer brewery Hertog Jan in Arcen with a nice pub with excellent cheeses just across from the brewery
- good food at the small hotel across the river from the brewery in Broekhuizen.
(along this part of the river Maas it is nice cycling, taking a few tiny ferries across the water).
- Cycling is excellent to explore the area, unusual landscape (marshes and white trees with their feet in the water) along the road between Helenaveen and Griendtsveen, this is the Peel area.
- the old city of Nijmegen, with Roman traces
- castle Loevestein, medieval
- National Park Drunense/Loose Duinen, dune landscape and nature, nice for walking.

These places fall within 3 provinces: Noord-Brabant, Limburg and Gelderland.
