Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Sintra Hotel Netto

Can any Portuguese members, residents or visitors to Sintra, please tell me what has happened to the historic Hotel Netto in Sintra?

I photographed it some years ago when it looked in a terrible state but I have seen blogs (and even worse views of it) on the web, in Portuguese, quite recently.

Unfortunately my reading of the language is not good enough to work out what the current situation is.

I would be very grateful for any information.

It seems that it didn't fall... yet.
It's abandoned, ruined, but somehow protected: studies carried in 2005 confirmed its archaeological interest, and no one dares to demolish it. But there is no plan to recuperate it either.
So, things will keep on until, one day... by accident or for security reasons to prevent it...

Thank you so much for your reply.
You confirmed my understanding of the article I read. It must be a dangerous building now.
So very sad - and it still has to stand next door to that modern Tivoli Sintra!

Thanks again. Barbara
