Shanghai 5 Days in Shanghai
Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 02:57 PM UTC
Hi all,

My trip to Shanghai has been confirmed for 5 days, from 23 Mar to 27 May.

Basically I will reach shanghai on 23 Mar at 6 plus in the morning.

Planning the following:

23 May Fri
- Cheng Huang Miao
- Yu Yuan
- TBC

24 May Sat
- Pearl Orient
- The Bund
- People's Square
- Xin Tian Di

25 May Sun
- Nanjing Lu
- Any advice?

26 May Mon
-Hangzhou (Westlake Area)

27 May Tue
- F& E

Any advice on the above?
I heard Qi Pu Lu is not worth going. Anyone's been there before?
Any other places that I should slot in maybe on the last day cos my flight is in the afternoon.

Thanks!
avarnil

why not stay Hangzhou for at least 2 days. I strong recommend Hangzhou, the west lake and west mount area, tea plant garden...
Shanghai is very suitable for living, but not worth to stay for long time for travlers.

Seems comprehensive enough of a schedule. The only one I don't see are the museums that are in the city. Just one advice: start early especially with the more popular sights like the Oriental Pearl Tower since these usually have long lines. Also try to visit The Bund and Nanjing lu in the evening to see the place light up.

Sorry to say that I don't think your itinerary is a wise use of time. I presume you meant arriving on 23 May not 23 Mar!
What are your sightseeing interests/preferences?

Hey hey,

Those are the places that i intend to touch.
I'm meeting my shanghai friend on the 1st day, hence the itinerary was suggested by her.
The next 2 days will be with another couple staying in Shanghai, and then Monday would be Hangzhou cos i was advised not to go during weekend.

Any take?

Ok, so you have an explanation. However still no information whatsoever about your own sightseeing interests and preferences. How are we supposed to know what would be worth your time visiting? Your itinerary is hardly organised geographically logically either. What time do you fly out on 27/5?

Well, i'm returning on 27 in the afternoon, i gotta leave shanghai probably by 1 or 2pm.

Seriously, i have not much preferences, what I want to do is to really go to places worth seeing, and maybe do a bit of shopping.
