Namaste Christina. It s everything is possible to do. Its good plane to go to everest bace camp but at the december is not good time for trekking because at that time going to be snowing as well as it's thought it is cold you can do it.

Hi Christina
My first tip would be to ignore postings like the above Spamvertiser – Even if his grasp of English does give us all a laugh !!
I have walked the Everest Base Camp trek departing in January, It is true that the weather wasn’t always at its best but I still had a cracking trek and enjoyed it thoroughly !!
I walked in from Jiri, independently, without either guide or porters, however whether you decide to hire a guide or porter yourself is down to you as there are both advantages and disadvantages of which way to do it !!
I certainly wouldn’t entertain going with a group and have written the reasons why in detail on the tips section of my Nepal page.
Your trip will primarily hinge on two things, your timescale and your budget, If you have time then I would recommend the walk in from Jiri, this also saves the cost of the flight into Lukla. Then after you have been up to EBC, If you have time then a side trip to the lakes at Gokyo is a very worthwhile. It took me 28 days from Jiri,- EBC– Gokyo (Not over Chola La – if you want to go this way then a guide is recommended) then to Lukla and flight to Kathmandu.
If you go entirely Independently you can do the trek for $20/$25 per day + the flight(s) and trekking permits, To hire a Good guide it will cost you a further $20 per day, a porter comes in at around $8/$10 – All reputable and with insurance and those prices include their food costs but not there transportation costs.
If you need any further info then please feel free to both browse my Nepal pages and/or drop me a line
Happy Travels
Rob

I was there in May but only went as far as Namche Bazaar but can give you some idea.

the flight return from Lukla to Kathmandu cost us $235US
Khumbu resort at Lukla cost $15 per night and food was $5 per meal
Monzo at Top Hill Lodge cost $12 per night and food was $5 per meal
Khumbu Lodge at Namche bazaar cost us $15 per night and $5 per meal
Porter cost us $13US per day that includes his food and accomodation
Guide $15US per day that includes his food and accomodation

would highly recommend the flu injection and altude sickness tablets.
we hired our porters etc from

If you allowed yourself $50US per day that would be heaps.
