| New York City | From La Guardia to Long Island Railroad Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 05:45 AM UTC
I can't believe I have to ask this question as a born and raised New Yorker, but my situation has changed and my Dad is no longer around to pick me up at the airport. Anyway, how do I get from La Guardia to the Long Island railroad so I can get out to the Port Jefferson (Ronkonkoma) line? I know I can take an air train from JFK to the Jamaica LIRR station, but how do I accomplish something similar from LaGuardia?? Please help

The Port Authority website has all kinds of details on how to get to/from all three of the area airports. Here is what they have for LGA:

I'm a native New Yorker too, but I've never had to do this! I'd take a cab to Jamaica, which, as you know, is a major LIRR hub, for the Ronkonkoma connection.

yeah, from Jamaica LIRR Station you can catch the LIRR towards Port Jefferson.
Here is the LIRR Schedule URL & fares http://lirr42.mta.info/index.asp LIRR MAP http://mta.info/lirr/html/lirrmap.htm

the ronkonkoma and port jeff lines split at Hicksville - make sure you are on the right train.
the easiest way to get to Jamaica station remains hopping in a cab and being done with it.
