Netanya Transportation advice from Blue Bay hotel Netanya to Old Jaffa in Tel Aviv
Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 05:35 AM UTC
Greetings,
We will be arriving at the airport and going straight to Blue Bay hotel Netanya in mid May to join a group. As we will arrive in early morning, we still have half a day before the group arrives in the evening.

We would like to make a half day trip to Old Jaffa and would need advice on the following:
1) What is the easiest and cheapest way of travelling from Blue Bay Hotel Netanya to Old Jaffa? What is the travelling time and the cost?

2) Is there a place to change shekels near Blue Bay hotel Netanya?

3) Are there any places within short walking distance from Blue Bay hotel Netanya that we can visit?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

There are three cheap ways to go to Jaffa, but they wouldn't be the most convenient. You can take the bus to Tel-Aviv you can take a shared taxi to Tel-Aviv or you can take the train to Tel-Aviv. You can get off in the Arlozorov train station (the bus and shared taxi will also stop there) and take bus number 10 from there to Jaffa.

Netanya is 30 km north of Tel-Aviv, so the travelling time is about 30-45 minutes driving time. Depending on traffic. Of course the train can do it faster. The buses will take a little longer, between 45-60 minutes. And they cost 15 shekels. The train and the sahred taxi should cost about the same

You can see prices and time tables for the train at: http://www.israrail.org.il. The intercity buses information: http://www.egged.co.il and the local buses in Tel Aviv-Jaffa: http://www.dan.co.il..

The only thing I can think of you can see in Netanya is the beach. To the south you have a nice nature reserve with a lot of irises, but their season has passed.

Hi Veronica

Blue Bay hotel is located just on the northern edge of Netanya: actually the seaside road with a side walk, ends near the hotel. There are no special places within short walking distance. You will need to walk some 15-20 minutes long the sea (on the beach or on the parallel street) and reach the central beaches. A taxi could take you there within a couple on minutes and some 20 shekels.

In order to get to Tel Aviv/Jaffa you will need to get to Netanyas central bus station. This is done either by taxi (again) or with one of the city buses: some 20 minute ride (the bus does not reach the hotel, but rather a "Merkas Klita" (absorption center) that is some 5 minute walk into a small neighborhood across the road (the bell boy will guide you). From central Netanya the best way will be to take a Sherut mini cab (they run from a near by street: ask the domestic bus driver) or Egged bus to Tel Aviv central bus station, and from there a third journey: bus again.

As you see this journey, by public transportation, will not be short and last at least 90 minutes from the hotel door to the Old city of Jaffa.
