I was looking at the Canon G9 the other day. It seems to have most of the flexibility of an SLR without the bulk. It is 12 megapixels with a 6x zoom. It might be a good option when traveling. Does anyone have any experience with this camera?

One of our local film, camera and photo processing stores rents cameras, including digital cameras. Really, the best way to determine how satisfactory a camera is for travel or any other use is to spend some time with it. Try to find such a store in your area that can rent them so that you can try it out.

The reviews that I checked out at a couple of places seemed pretty good. Renting a camera to check it out seems like a great idea.
