I'm from the US but we bought Air Asia tickets online about 6 months prior to our trip to Malaysia for three intra-country flights and everything went off without a hitch. Being a low cost carrier they have no assigned seating so you queue up like cattle to board.
One thing to remember is that their weight allowances for luggage is low compared to international carriers (15 kgs if I remember correctly) and they are very keen on charging you for every ounce above the limit.

We used them for four internal flights on one trip to Malaysia, including returning from KK. All four flights were at least an hour late in departing, and three of the four were over two hours late. The other passengers seemed to regard this as normal for AA. Agree with previous poster: it's a budget airline so there is no service, and baggage allowance was so small as to be a real pain.
If you're considering Malaysia Airlines instead, however, first see if it's a non-stop flight (as opposed to "direct") from KL to KK. I believe we were on the last leg of such a flight, that had stopped in Sarawak, Labuan, and finally KK. Possibly Brunei as well.

Air Asia is a budget airline - no food served, no assigned seat, and if you are tall, you'll find the seats uncomfortable. And they have recently introduced a rule - a check baggage charge for each luggage. Look at their website for more info.
