| Orlando | october trip crowd concern Posted: Thu May 1, 2008 02:04 PM UTC
Hi,
I am looking for some input about a Wed-Wed trip to Orlando including Columbus day weekend. I am told Florida doesn't have Columbus Day off. We are taking the kids out of school for this trip and I would hate to get down there and have it be crowded, which is what we are trying to avoid. We have previously stuck to vacation weeks, but are so frustrated with the crowds at Disney! We are planning to spend only 1 day at Magic Kingdom and the rest at Universal and Seaworld parks. Thanks for your help! Jennifer |

October is a good time to visit. Avoid the weekends and you should be fine. Go to an outlet mall, Daytona Beach, or relax by the pool during the weekend.

My wife and I and our 4 kids did the same exact itinerary 17 years ago and found the parks only slightly crowded and the weather absolutely perfect for both park visiting and swimming. At this time Universal hadn't quite opened so we worked our schedule around Disney. This is the itinerary we followed:
Wednesday - Arrive from Chicago early afternoon. Visited both EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom (connected by monorail). Thursday - Spent entire day at Magic Kingdom. Night time activity at Hoop-De-Doo Review (fun time for the family). My kids at that time were ages 4 to 10. Friday - Spent entire day at one of Disney's Water Parks Saturday - Space shuttle launch and MGM Studios Sunday - Back to Magic Kingdom Monday - Back to EPCOT Tuesday - Character Breakfast and visiting relatives. We have since been back many other times at our timeshare and have enjoyed both the Universal Parks (the older kids like this better then Disney) and SeaWorld.

october is a good time to visit orlando it is after the summer (june-august) tourist season and before the winter (dec-april) tourist season. also the weather is much cooler than in the summer. if you are flying besure to allocate two hours when departing the airport. have a great trip. doug48

October tends to mbe more crowded in Florida. They run promotional sales on theme park tickets to UK residents. The last time I was in Disney during October I felt as if it was Disney World UK Edition.
