Buenos dias Compadres .... I wonder if anyone can shed any light please on my question. Basically we are flying in to Palma in a few weeks and yet are staying alllll the way on the other side of the island in Alcudia. My question is, I have been quoted 126 euros for return journey by a rental type company and I have no idea if this a OK as have no comparisons .... would anyone know if this was about right ? If not, does anyone have any otehr cheaper suggestions ?

Also, a friend has recommended a trip to Pollensa and I wondered if this was do-able by foot or bike ?

I haven't used taxis as we always hired a car but I know there are good bus services from Palma town to most destinations on the island. Probably need to get the airport bus to the main bus station.

Pollensa is our favourite place - it would be a quite long walk but do-able by bike.

It is not a very big island so nowhere is that far away.
The airport website will have some information about transfers - sorry I don't have the web address to hand - but Google will find it. Have a good trip!

If you consider hiring a car then check out www.carjet.com their prices are very reasonable plus you would have the benefit of being able to see more of the island. Alcudia is only about and hours drive from the airport....a straight road right the way thru, and Pollensa is reached by the road that goes round the bay from Alcudia. I prefer Pollensa to Alcudia, its smaller and not so commercialised, but Alcudia has so much to offer for families etc. If you carry on round the bay from Pollensa you come to Cala San Vicente, a beautiful little bay with deep blue water and sandy beach. From here you could continue your drive down the west coast to Puerto Soller and take the little tram thru the orange groves into the town of Soller....so pretty.
I love Mallorca...I lived there for 23 yeras!

JUST SEEN YOUR POST DONT KOW IF YOU HAVE GONE ON HOLIDAY YET? 126 euros sounds ok as i usually go to PP on the north of the island 5 of us in a big merc £160 return, as for the distance between Alcudia and PP hire a bike a great road along the bay flat as a pancake nice to stop for a cold beer also nice breeze coming of the sea , giving PP a miss this year and taking all the family to Cala Dor 10/6 counting down the days.

Hi there - Pleased to advise we have found a shuttle company for less than £60 return trip so all well there ! Definitely intend a bike ride (if we can hire a bike from our hotel) to Pollensa .... hoping there is also some sun ?!? Been checking the weather daily and its still raining !! :(
