| San Francisco | Need reasonable lodging in Sonoma Posted: Thu May 1, 2008 03:34 AM UTC
Greetings world travelers!
I'm taking a weekend workshop in Sonoma mid-June and need a reasonably priced room/cottage/studio/whatever! to stay in. Most are $150/night and up, and require 2 nt. minimum. Hey, it's just ME! I don't need a massage or wine in the room, or a spa - just a good clean place to sleep near Sonoma. I'd stay in a KOA Kottage if they had one closer than Petaluma. Anything like that out there? Any tips, ideas? Thanks, DJ Starr |

You don't want to drive from San Francisco and drive back, so for a room less than $150 close to Sonoma, but not in town would most likely be in Petaluma. There are many motels in that area around the $100-$125 range. It would be about a 20 minute drive into Sonoma. At least it would not be as hectic as driving from San Francisco. Mid-June is the summer tourist time on weekends and the roads do get heavy traffic. I'd pay a little more and try and find a place in Sonoma, but hurry, they all book fast.

| San Francisco | One night lodging in Sonoma Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 03:35 PM UTC
Hi guys,
Thanks for your input. I looked for nearby hotels in Sonoma, and called the Sonoma Inn hotel direct. He said 2 night minimum - and I asked if they'd rent me one night if someone else called and took Thurs/Friday. Sure! So I told him keep me in the loop - and sure enough - within a week that scenario occured and now I have my one night. So I guess the moral is to talk to the manager and feed him/her the ideas. Thanks, all. DJ Starr P.S. $198/night - but at least it's only one night, and centrally located.

What are your dates of travel. The KAZ Winery has a place that might fit your needs. It's a bit out of Sonoma, more like in Kenwood, but not that far. Google Kaz Winery and check their site. It might take a bit cuz Rick (aka Kaz) has a rather eclectic web page. BUT he has good wine.
