| London | Kid-Friendly Pubs Near Piccadilly? Posted: Wed April 30, 2008 07:05 PM UTC
Hello everyone!
I am trying to find a "kid-friendly" pub near Piccadilly, somewhere maybe just north of the underground station? It doesn't have to tailor itself to kids, but somewhere that would allow an 11-year old (with parents!) on a Saturday evening. Am I kidding myself in trying to find one on a weekend night?? Thanks! |

Many Pubs have their own restrictions on children.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news The Pub in quastion is part of a 693 Pub chain. If it is just a boozer (no food) it is just not the done thing to have kids there at any time. Food pubs have rules and they like to keep the kids out nights. There are 2 chains that list that they like kids in London: http://www.all4kidsuk.com/search_result/nokeyword/ They are food pubs, but you may find that after 6pm they will restrict. I would suggest a family taverna sort of thing. Completely avoid the possible issues. Hope your family has a great time!

In my experience children are seldom seen in Pubs in the evening, especially in cities. The laws are fairly flexible on this but the practice is quite different.
Individual landlords rule and have the ultimate say. If you want to experience a British Pub you would be much better at lunch time and choose one that serves food in separate area. In any case it would always be better to ask well beforehand rather that incur displeasure. Your better bet would be to go to a restaurant near Piccadilly there are lots of super ones of all varieties. Chinatown is near with loads of good places there are also Indian, Turkish, Thai, Greek etc etc as well as Burger places.

Thanks guys! I didn't think it was altogether common practice. I'm meeting friends for dinner and I thought it would be nice to introduce my friends to my mum and sis beforehand - thought maybe a pub would do. I think I'll just have my mum and sis meet the group of us at the restaurant instead of taking them along for drinks. Seems much easier that way. :)
But thanks!

Can you come back to this site after the weekend and let us know what you think please? My partner and I used to live near Picadilly, we never felt that the place was really suitable for kids on a Saturday night. That is some years now, perhaps you can give us an update?

So you want another VT Member to go from pub to pub doing research for you on a Saturday night?
Respect! Where do I sign up at?
