Things to do in the daytime?? Krakow is stuffed with them!
If you do only one thing you must visit Kazimierz, the Jewish ghetto area just outside the old city (walking distance), with its restored synagogues and a real sense of what was once there and was destroyed. It will make you understand the impact of the Holocaust far better than any book or film. There's a castle, and caves, and a river, and a cathedral, and a fascinating church in the main square (Rynek Glowny), and museums, and a park all the way round the old city where the walls once stood......... Have a look at the VT Krakow pages (including mine)for things to see and places to go. Krakow is far, far more than just a cheapo place for a booze-weekend. Take the time to explore it a little.

Krakow isn't cheap anymore, a pint will set you back £6, just like in Paris, for a good meal you're talking £40, you're better off having your do in Blackpool, still time to change your plans I hope.

Actually, I did help...you asked what there was to see and I told you (and suggested where you might look for more info).
Can't help with prices because it was 2006 when I visited.

I was in Krakow a few weeks ago and I thought the price of beer was cheap, especially for how good it was. I think we figured we were paying less then $3 for a half litre. Street food was ridiculously cheap and good, and even the prices in a restaurant were moderate.
And as leics said, it is a beautiful city with lots of things to see and do.
