Hi there,

need your help. Will be in Krakow for two days and donīt have any time to check out what to see. Please could you help me? What are the must sees?
Great bars, cafes or restaurants, also?

Thanks in advance.

Best wishes from Berlin,

You must go see the Wawel Castle and the Salt Mines outside of the city. These were the two things that impressed me and my husband the most. The History Museum is also very enlightening. When we went in November 2007, it has just been recently relocated from the Cloth Hall to another location not too far away. If I am correct it is in Florianska Street. We also enjoyed a very moving "Chopin" Piano concert. There'll be lots of people offering tickets for it on the streets, or you can buy it from your hotel.

As for restaurants, there are many to choose from right around the city center. We had an excellent dinner (traditional Polish food) in a restaurant on the northwest side of the Cloth Hall. We also enjoyed a live band in Piano Rouge, which is in one of the many catacombs in the city along Mikolajska Street (street that borders the Cloth Hall to the Northeast). If you're going on a Friday or Saturday night, it is recommended that you make reservations. There are many other bars along the streets surrounding the Cloth Hall.

Have fun!

Wieliczka is a must. You can get there very cheap by local bus. Just ask when in town. It is only 20 min away.
Main Square (Mariacki Plac) and the walk from there to Wawel Castle and to Kazimierz (Jewish district).
Kazimierz is nice to hang out at night.
Just stick to the old town and follow the people.

You must see Kazimierz, absolutely, yes. I spent 3 whole days in the city, did not see either salt mines or Auschwitz (though I did go to Tyniec monastery, which would have been an even lovelier visit had it not poured with rain!).

Have a look at the VT Krakow pages (I have some) for ideas and places to see/eat etc. There's a couple of Georgian restaurants just off the main square: I really enjoyed Georgian food!

One of my favorite restaurants in Krakow was the Pierogarnia...there is a review at http://www.cracow-life.com/eat/restaurants_details/269-Zapiecek_Polish_Pierogi. I think it is a must!

I agree with leics. If I had only 2 days I wouldn't leave the city. I have visited several times and never saw Auschhwitz or the Salt Mines. You couldn't help be enchanted with all the cafes, bars, the castle and the Jewish section of Kazimierz. Plenty to keep you busy without going beyond walking distance. Have a great time. (Lots of restaurant reviews on my K. pages) or stumble into your own choices...doesn't matter. You'll love all of it. I'm jealous. I want to go again!
