Hi all
We are going to Dublin for just a few hours in a cruiseship. Can someone tell me where do we get the Hop on- Hop off bus ?How far is it from the port? and which are places of interest to get off. Thanks a lot for your help

The best place to get the bus is O'Connell St, near the Gresham Hotel, it's about a mile from the port, probably best to get a taxi. In fact you can get on the bus at any designated stop but as the commentary starts from O'Connell St it's best to begin at the beginning. The Guinness Storehouse is a very popular spot, I'd recommend Kilmainham Gaol if you want to get some important Irish history. There's a Georgian House in Merrion Sq that you can visit which gives a good insight into a past way of life, also I believe the Irish Whiskey Distillery in Smithfield is worth a look.
By the way there are two companies doing hop-on-hop-off tours, one is 'City Sightseeing', start point as above, try to get on the yellow bus which has a live guide (the red one is headphones or a driver commentary). The other is Dublin Bus which has a driver commentary, their head office is on the opposite side of O'Connell st, I think their tour starts from there but not absolutely sure.
