Henderson Travel Forum

I was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers for the best way to get from the Las Vegas Airport (LAS) to Henderson, Nevada on Lake Las Vegas. From what I understand this is just under 20 miles north of the strip in Vegas. I'm headed to the Montelago Village Resort for a wedding. I'm looking to avoid traveling 20 miles in a cab and spending too much money.

Is there a bus or something that heads up there? If so, do you know any details? bus name, number, cost, where it picks up, etc.

I should say I arrive on Friday, July 4th (a holiday). So maybe there's a holiday schedule I should know about...?

Any suggestions?

You could probably do Henderson by bus, but Lake Las Vegas will require a private shuttle if not taxi.
Try to contact the management of where you're staying. Fancy places like that tend to have their own vehicles they use to truck people around, and I'm sure that you could get them to pick you at the airport, if not for free, then a nominal fee.
If that fails, you could take a bus to Henderson then a cab to the resort, but that would be really time-consuming.

Okay so my orientation was off. It is in Henderson, but I guess that's 20 miles driving distance EAST of the LAS airport. Not "north of the strip". It's at the corner of Strada di Villagio & Lake Las Vegas Pkwy.

Been to where you are going and you will have a great time. I would also call the hotel and see what they suggest otherwise take a cab. Everybody says Lake Las Vegas is 20 minutes from the strip, but it doesn't seem like it to me. LLV is really a pretty fair distance from the strip and the airport. I am guessing LLV will be doing fireworks for the 4th so that will make traffic even worse. Take a cab or hope the hotel will pick you up. Maybe find some others in your party to split the cost if the timing is right.

I have stayed at the Montelage Village Resort and thought it was grand. Had my own car, so it was easy to go to the Strip in Vegas. Maximum time between the two was 25 minutes. It is only 20 miles to MGM and I believe only about 18 from the airport. If you don't rent a car, try a walk up sedan outside the baggage area. They should be cheaper than a rental car. Holiday schedules don't apply in Las Vegas. A walk up sedan means that they charge by the hour. See if a Taxi is cheaper, but the walk up will be about $50 with tip. One way. I have a tip on the hotel on my Henderson pages. There will be fireworks on the 4th of July on the Lake. OPTION 1: check the official McCarran Airport website for ground transportation companies (see link below). From there, you can start calling / e-mailing these companies directly to get the best deal. website: http://www.mccarran.com/03_Shuttles_01.asp

OPTION 2: Hertz Rental Car (pick up at airport and return it at their office at Lake Las Vegas). I checked www.hertz.com and a Hyundai Accent is less than $50.00 TOTAL - still probably cheaper than a taxi or a shuttle. Maybe they will give a discount if you truly just use it to drive from the airport and return it immediately at the Lake Las Vegas location.
