Boracay Island Bohol to Boracay
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 03:31 PM UTC
We will be visiting Bohol this September, but I also want to make a side trip to Boracay before going back to Manila. How do we go from Bohol to Boracay? Do we really have to fly or will a ferry from Tagbilaran will do?

Ok, easiest and best way to do this is take one of the high speed ferry's to Cebu from Tagbilaran(Bohol). Then take one of the many flights to Caticlan(Boracay) from Cebu City.

TrippedNC is correct.

There are SuperCat or SuperFerry (and i think Wissam also) that travel to Cebu-Bohol and vice-versa several times daily (They call them Tripid fares at SuperCat right now, a combination of Trip and Tipid, tagalog for cheap...). Cost is about 400-600 pesos per person depending on roung trip and promos at the time. Upon arrival in Cebu you can take PAL Express, Seair, or Asian Spirit airlines. All of them have at least on flight daily. cost is around 2,000 to 4,000 depending on what promo you get. PAL has a buy one take one sell if you 2 people traveling, if not Asian Spirit has a 99 Peso +++ deal (2,000 peso total).

Travel time to Caticlan this way is approximately 6 hours.

Alternatively, you could also travel by RORO (Roll On Roll Off, or the Strong Republic Nautical Highway) and Bus. There should still be a RORO line from Tagbilaran to Iloilo (pronounced: E-low E-low). Iloilo is in the province of Aklan where Boracay is located, however, it is a 3-4 hour van ride or 5-6 hour bus ride from Caticlan (The gateway to Boracay, as the sign at the airport says). The Bus or Van will stop right at the Jetty Port where you can take a 15-20 minute pump boat ride to Boracay's Jetty Port, (Cagban). Hop in a trike to the hotel and your enjoying the beach in not time.

The RORO route takes about 3 times as long. Not sure the exact time as I have not been on the RORO from Tagbilaran to Iloilo yet.
