Manchester Cheapest parking in Manchester near to MEN Arena
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 12:17 PM UTC
I am trying to find the cheapest parking for around 10 hours on a week day (Friday) from about 12/1pm until 11pm at night, and within as close distance as possible to the MEN arena.

Can anyone help?

I believe that there is an NCP car park at the arena, but if my previous experiences of NCP are anything to go by they are usually far more expensive than others.

I don't know Manchester at all so any replies would be very helpful

Thanks

Is it critical for you to come by car? The MEN Arena is on top of Victoria train station.

There are a number of streets in the immediate area that my friend has parked on when we meet up in Manchester but that's usually in the evening so I'm not sure if she is parking on a post-6pm rule.

I would suggest that you try and avoid the NCP at the MEN itself. Getting out of there after a concert/show can be a nightmare. Queuing to pay for parking tickets at the pay stations and then queuing to get out the car park.

When in Manchester we always park during the day under the railway arches off Chapel Street, near junction with Victoria Street within one minutes walk of MEN. These are manned car parks, cost around £6 per day - I've never had any problems and been using them for years. However they tend to close at 6pm so you will need to move. There is another car park right on the junction of Chapel Street and Victoria Street, up a ramp and on top of the aforementioned arches that stays opne late for MEN parking. Cost there is around £5 for an evening. Again used it plenty of times without problem.

You can park on Victoria station car park, but on a Friday afternoon it will probably be very busy.

If you are coming from the west, why not park at the Ladywell park and ride near Hope hospital. It is free parking, 24 hour attendant and a tram stop next to it. £1.90 return to Piccadilly, then a 5 minute walk to the MEN.

You tend to get a few drunks on the trams at night, but I've never had a problem.
