Budapest Budapest Hotel Advice
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 12:16 PM UTC
Hi all,

I hope you can help. I can taking my girlfriend to Budapest for her birthday in September and would like some advice on where to stay and what is a must to do/see while over there.

We are both in our early 20’s so we are looking for a hotel close to the centre (near attractions/nightlife) for around €100 per night. If anyone can recommend a hotel that fits the bill I would really appreciate it.

Also, could people recommend what is a must to see/do which in Budapest as I want to make this holiday as romantic/memorable as possible.

Any information you can give would really help, I am doing some research myself but there is nothing better than people’s 1st hand experience of Budapest to get the most of the city.

I want to make this a romantic holiday so if anyone can recommend things to do/see to make it as romantic as possible I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
AM

Hello!

Maybe you could live in Hotel Mercue City Center, Hotel Kalvin House or Hotel Central Basilica. They are all in your price category, and they are all central in the town.

There are plenty of things to see and do, but some hot spring are adviceable (maybe Szechenyi Fürdő), then of course a romantic walk along the Danube one evening, the zoo is also great, and can in fact be quite romantic, and then some good restaurants can be good. It all depends what you prefer, but a restaurant like Trófea Grill can be a very romantic one (you can eat and drink as much as you want for a set price).

There are lots of things to say, but you can read more here at the TripAdvisor about Budapest and it sights, and if you want to you can check out this Budapestguide at http://www.hungarybudapestguide.com/ as well.

Take care, and hope I could be at some help.

By the way, you should surprise your girlfriend with some treatment, massage or something similar as well... they tend to like that, and you can find such things quite cheap in Budapest!

That's what I hope to do, I would like to take her to the baths but could you recommend a day spa that gives massages etc that I can treat her too as well.

Any help you can give would be great.

I can recommend Grand Danubius Hotel in Margit Island for a daily spa treatment. Szecheny Furdo or Rudas Furdo could be good options to combine hot bath and massage. If you want to be in the city center and close to main attractions Ibis Hotel in Blaha Lujza Ter could be an option and it will cost you a reasonable price. For things to do, there are many options and I suggest reading my Budapest tips for some opinion. Let's talk about romantic things that you can do. Trofea Grill is my favorite restaurant, but it doesn't provide such a romantic ambiance. For example, if you go to Spoon boat restaurant anchored on Danube river bank just beside Chain Bridge, you can have a fantastic view of the castle and have an elegant dinner. However, it will be quite expensive. You can go to Citadel and there you can have a drink while you watch the sunset over Budapest. I am sure you will find some interesting tips if you browse my pages. If you have more questions, let me know. Enjoy Budapest :)
