Bosnia and Herzegovina Montenegro - Sarajevo - Mostar - Split

Hello, I am wondering if it will be easy to travel between these above places, are buses/trains readily available? Was hoping to leave from Kotor then into Bosnia (dont mind which city I do first) ending in split. Any ideas? thanks.

Hi,

I can't help with the Montenegro part of the journey, but I travelled the rest of that route in reverse about a year ago: starting in Split, then on to Mostar and then on to Sarajevo.

The following details were correct as of May 2007:

We travelled between Split and Mostar by bus. There are several buses, operated by a variety of companies, connecting Split and Mostar each day. The journey took around 4.5 hours (including a short wait at the border while all passports were checked and a change of buses at a small town on the Bosnian side of the border) and cost 84 Croatian Kuna (approx. 8 GBP) one way. You shouldn't have any problems on the Mostar - Split leg of your journey; buses are plentiful! We purchased our tickets a day in advance, but we needn't have bothered doing so as the bus was less than a quarter full.

We travelled between Mostar and Sarajevo by train. There are apparently only two or three trains each day, and we caught the late afternoon one. The one way journey cost 10 Bosnian KM (approx. 3.50 GBP) and took 2.5 hours. There are numerous buses between Sarajevo and Mostar each day, which also complete the journey in around 2.5 hours. The locals recommended that we take the train rather than the bus due to the spectacular mountain scenery along the train route - it certainly was a fascinating journey!

Have a great trip - it is a wonderful part of the world!

Best wishes,

Jonathan

I have done like opposite. ZAGREB-BANJA LUKA-SARAJEVO-MOSTAR-DUBROVNIK-KOTOR-
DUBROVNIK-SPLIT-ZAGREB

I have done it with rent a car.But you can find buses from Kotor to Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik to Mostar and Dubrovnik to Split.Between Dubrovnik Split 4 hours S shape cost road .Split Zagreb is motor way.Have you checked low cost airlines?
Dubrovnik have an airport and you can easily go to split.
