Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
El Salvador Safe and affordable accommodation
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 06:50 AM UTC
I'm a solo female American traveler looking for some affordable and safe accommodation, either a hostel or homestay.. preferrably a homestay to really help me with my deplorable Spanish. I won't be in ES for more than 5 or 6 days.

I'd like to spend no more than $30/day, including everything, but can expand that for the right place. Advice? Experiences?

I have compiled links to the homepages of a series of hotels/hostels here: http://www.guanacosonline.org/WebAppGuanacosOnlineAdmin/AppGuanacosOnlineAdmin/wfCatGeneral.aspx?catList=1&catLanguage=Espanol&catID=8. If you are arriving with Tica Bus, it stops at two hotels, one being El Meson de Maria in a nice part of town. Another option used by backpackers is Ximena's Guest House near Boulevar de los Heroes and Metrocentro Mall - so you have restaurants, etc. nearby.
