| Amsterdam | hotel for June 14-17 Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 10:13 PM UTC
for Saturday night thru Tuesday morning. Price range around 320 USD. Don't need any internet, TV, mini-bar, or bar. I want a real 60" queen, not 2 twins pushed together, No Smoke, and quiet as possible. I expect to be overpriced and cramped, but not be above a noisy bar. Yes, I know Amsterdam is a party town! I've spent over 3 hrs reading reviews on hotels.nl (not impressed), and Travelocity (higher quality). Narrowed down to: Golden Tulip, on quiet no-vehicle street; Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky; NH Museum Quarter; NH Amsterdam Center, real queen beds; Sofitel; and Holiday Inn Airport! Your advice means alot to me. THANKS.

Sorry, we don't have private islands in Amsterdam.
But you could try the Victoria, good isolated windows and very cenreal in the city. Have a nice time in Ams. P.

I stayed at the Golden Tulip earlier this month. Nice hotel...good location...real Queen size bed.
But I gotta tell ya'...While there are no vehicles on this street, there are lots of late night partiers (myself included) who noisily walk along the Nieuwezijds Kolk. If you choose the Tulip, ask for a room that doesn't front onto the Kolk. That said, the Golden Tulip is a great hotel. Cheers, -ale

hi Ale. Thanks for your insight. We did wind up renting a houseboat in a place called Jordaan, in Westerpark (?). What kind of neighborhood is this, and can we walk or take tram into center?

i didnt mean to come off as a snob, but a quiet night's sleep is very important for me. I do suffer from a
medical condition called sleep apnea, and I wear a CPAP machine at night so I get into that good deep REM sleep.

I think you mean the Westerkade. The Westerpark is further out West and not a part of the Jordaan.

Hello, I think you'll love this. Let me know if you're interested. Is US$340 for all nights?
