| Chicago | Weather in May? Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 04:41 PM UTC
I know weather is unpredictable, but does anyone know what May is usually like (May 10-16, or mid May)?
The weather network's long range forecast only gives me for this week. |

You're right, Chicago's weather is unpredictable. It rains a lot in May; by the 10th. but the chances are pretty good that the temperature will average in the 50's but 40's and 80's are also possible--sometimes one immediately following the other. Once, years ago, there was even a blizzard in May, but the weathe warmed up in a day or so and melted the snow.

Check out www.wunderground.com for information on any day of the year. This will give you highs/lows and averages for the dates you want.

I'm not a meteorologist, but I can tell you that I traveled to Chicago for a week last year from May 3-10 and it was perfect. Low 60's to Low 70's daily with FULL sun.
Just thought I'd share what it was like one year ago. Enjoy, d

Chicago weather is ALWAYS unpredictable. ALWAYS. This is something I've learned living here for the last 15 years or so. But mid to late spring is usually the most unpredictable, yet generally quite pleasant. Its generally safe to say that the weather is usually at least in the 50s (Farenheit) but is often above, and sometimes below. For example, today 2 May it was in the mid 70s, very humid, and we had a lot of thunderstorms, but like 2 days ago it was in the low 40s. It should be in the low 60s, and climbing by mid-May. Hope you enjoy your trip.

May is generally a good weather month, but still unpredictble...Today it was a high of 80F...tomorrow it is predicted to be a high of 60F...bring a jacket and come to a great city...May is right before the big tourist push starts...A good time to visit.
