Yogyakarta 6D/5N to East Java
Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 12:58 PM UTC
Hi, my friend and I will travel to Yogyakarta in Aug. I would like to have some tips on transfer from one place to another because there are 2 places we are travelling.
1. From Yogyakarta city - Borobudur
What is the budget way to travel from town to Borobudur? What time should we leave the town? How long is the jouurney?
2. Borobudur - Surabaya
Is is possible to get a train from Borobudur to Surabaya? Where is the train station situated? What time is the first and last train to catch? How long is the journey?
3. Surabaya town - Mount Bromo
What is the ways to go from town to Mount Bromo? How long is the journey? Do we need to stay one night nearby Mount Bromo?

I hope you guys and girls can give some advice.

Tahnk you.

Simple answers;
1. Go to bus station, get the bus destination Magelang, get off in Muntilan Bus terminus and change bus to Borobudur it takes around 2-3 hours. Better go in the morning.
2. From Borobudur, you must go back to Yogyakarta. For a nonstop trip, when arriving at the bus station, get the bus to Surabaya (all day long schedule), it takes 9 hours. Or if by train, take midnight train to Surabaya from Yogya's train station.
3. By Bus, you can go directly to Bromo from Surabaya bus station. Get the bus to Probolinggo City and change to minibus to Bromo at the bus station. Better one night stay at Bromo to see Sunrise. Surabaya-Probolinggo-Bromo Totally around 5 hours. By Train; From Train station, take minicab to bus terminal and the next direction as like above.

1. There are buses from Yogya to Borobudur, I recommend to go early in the morning. People at your hotel can tell you the departure times.
3. Don't know if your have to stay a night at Bromo because of transportation scedules, but I highly recommend it. Sunrise at Bromo is really worth it.

Hi,

Just want to recommend how to travel in the town. Use transjogja to travel in town or to Prambanan temple (beside the borobudur temple, if it might be also interesting for you), and to main bus station.

Why I recommend it, as it safe, convenient, air conditioned and friendly service. It will cost you 3000 rps, but if you want transit to take another line of the bus as long as you do not exit the shelter its free. Even you can buy a travel card with amount of credit from 15.000 rps. With this travel card, every single trip with this bus it will cost you only 2700 rps. If you take normal city bus, make sure you understand the route. But anyway you will not get lost in Jogja, as its not so big city.

Check about this bus
www.transjogja.net.

You even can find the route of the normal city bus in this website. But you have to prepare a good map of Jogja.

Jogja is very nice and friendly city, of course cheap.

Have a good trip and write about your trip soon you will arrive home.
